Herbert Ames is Vice President—Southeast for EDENS, one of the nation’s leading retail real estate owners and development companies. He has more than 10 years’ experience in real estate development and has managed the development and redevelopment of properties throughout the Southeast totaling over 900,000 square feet for retailers including Whole Foods Market, Publix, Target and The Fresh Market.
Formerly based in the Columbia, South Carolina office of EDENS, Ames relocated to Atlanta to expand the company’s regional scope.
Ames is known for his commitment to the community, and is currently serving on the board for the Buckhead Community Improvement District. He previously chaired the Long Range Planning Committee of the City Center Partnership (Columbia, SC) and served on the CCP Executive Committee of Board of Directors, an organization dedicated to reinvigorating Columbia’s urban core and central business district.
Ames is a graduate of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2008 and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Urban Land Institute. He received a BS from the University of South Carolina.
