Wieuca Road Roundabout

Current as of 1/4/23

About the Project

In 2015, the Buckhead CID hired consultants to study the traffic impacts of new development around the intersection of Wieuca Road and Phipps Boulevard where traffic regularly backs up every rush hour. The goal was to identify possible traffic and safety improvements for drivers and alternative travel modes. The results of this analysis included recommendations for improvements to roadway turning movements, the intersection design of Wieuca Road at Phipps Boulevard and improved pedestrian crosswalks. The best application to address all of these recommendations was a roundabout. This will be the first multi-lane roundabout in the city.

In 2017, the Buckhead CID held two public information meetings regarding the project. On June 7, the CID along with the City of Atlanta’s initiative, Renew Atlanta and Pond and Company Engineers gave a presentation about the project’s goals and plans during a second public information meeting.
