The Piedmont/Habersham intersection project is an operational improvement that will increase left-turn access through a minor widening of Piedmont Road from Habersham Road, the next intersection south. The project was identified in the Piedmont Corridor Transportation Study completed in 2008 and included in the Connect Atlanta Plan.

The improvement will provide for a two-way left turn lane facilitating morning and afternoon rush hour traffic flow.  It also will improve safety of turning cars by removing turning cars from the travel lanes and will accommodate pedestrians and cyclists.  Buckhead CID took careful consideration to preserve the mature tree canopy in its design.

The Georgia Department of Transportation agreed to partner with Buckhead CID on the cost of construction under its Operations Lump Sum program.
