The project includes a multiuse trail or cycle track, which will be located on the south side of East Paces Ferry Road along the MARTA Lenox Station property. East Paces Ferry Road will be narrowed to provide adequate shoulder width for construction of a multiuse trail which will provide an important connection to PATH400 on the west side of the pedestrian bridge.

More Funding for 2016 Initiatives
The Atlanta Regional Commission has provisionally awarded the Buckhead CID two federal transportation grants to improve the safety and flow of Atlanta traffic through Buckhead. The two projects are included in the draft Transportation Improvements Program, currently in the public comment period. The first recommendation is for the Buckhead CID to conduct an engineering study to widen Piedmont Road between Lenox Road and Peachtree Road. The second recommendation is for a scoping study to determine what improvements can and should be made to Lenox Road between East Paces Ferry and Piedmont Road.

BCID’s Peachtree Corridor Improvement Plan Forges Ahead
Buckhead CID is working with Kimley-Horn and Associates to make operational, safety, sidewalk and beautification improvements where possible on Peachtree Road between Shadowlawn Ave. and the south border of the district.
Due to existing road constraints, this section will not be widened or contain bike lanes. The operational improvements will change vehicle lanes to include a two-way center left turn lane, three dedicated lanes southbound and two lanes northbound along with protected left turn bays at intersections. Phase II of this project will consist of streetscape changes to improve its appeal, accessibility, walkability and beautification.

Charlie Loudermilk Park Update
The Buckhead CID re-opened Charlie Loudermilk Park in April, and the beautification continues with the recent addition of more than 200 engraved bricks around the patio near the clock tower. The Buckhead CID also has enhanced the facade of the clock tower and plans to add lighting, so the bells will be illuminated at nightfall – making the park even more inviting.
The last step in the park’s redesign will be the placement of a permanent piece of art; a newly designed abstract stainless steel art sculpture, designed by John Portman, which will sit at the park’s point overlooking Peachtree Street.
