The Buckhead CID Brings Back the Holiday Traffic Officer Program
As gift shopping, community events and social gatherings bring the city to life this holiday season, Buckhead CID is bringing back its holiday traffic officer program. For more than a decade, the Buckhead CID has funded and managed the seasonal deployment of additional off-duty Atlanta Police Department (APD) traffic officers in Buckhead’s busiest intersections surrounding Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.
“Buckhead’s many shopping centers and top-tier restaurants make for a popular holiday destination,” said Jim Durrett, executive director of the Buckhead CID. “As we seek to make Buckhead a safe and accessible urban environment, this program is vital to moving residents and visitors efficiently through our streets, so we’re glad to bring it back again this year.”
The holiday traffic officer program focuses on helping traffic move more efficiently during peak rush hour times by keeping the intersections clear when drivers are entering or exiting shopping malls, offices or retail developments. This year, the CID will strategically place patrols at the following locations:
- Peachtree Road at Lenox Road
- Peachtree Road at Monarch/Mall Entrance
- Peachtree Road at Lenox Parkway
- Lenox Road at Kingsboro Road
- Lenox Road at East Paces Ferry Road
Patrol hours will cover weekend and weekday rush hour traffic to alleviate blocked intersections and highly visited roadways.
