Special Public Interest District 12 covers the commercial core of the Buckhead community surrounding the two malls and the major high rise office developments. This zoning overlay district was one of the first ever written in the City and one of the last to be incorporated into the underlying zoning. The Buckhead CID is currently seeking funding through the Atlanta Regional Commission to update this district to achieve the following goals:
Ensure high quality redevelopment consistent with current market offerings
Maintain high density mixed-use transit oriented node
Simplify administration Simplify general understanding – consolidate zoning, SPI-12 and SPI-19 where overlaid
Use SPI-1 (downtown CBD) as a model for revision
Protect adjacent neighborhoods
Address quality of life issues necessary to create more defined sense of community
Identify potential common elements that can be incorporated to help achieve cohesive community identity and sense of place
Incorporate a combination of regulations and incentives to achieve the type of development consistent with the character and value expected for Buckhead.

BATMA
The Buckhead CID contributes $150,000 per year, or about 30% of the operating budget of the Buckhead Area Transportation Management Association (BATMA).
