2008 Piedmont Area Transportation Study
The Piedmont Area Transportation Study was conducted to create a 20-year plan that converts the Piedmont Corridor from an obsolete traffic artery to a comprehensive transportation connection and asset for the community. No longer secondary to Peachtree Road, the Piedmont Road envisioned in this plan will meet the standard for excellence that typifies Buckhead while preserving the unique character of the varying segments of the corridor. This study builds on the work done in 2001 through the Atlanta Regional Commission's Livable Centers Initiative that identified Piedmont Road and Peachtree Road as Buckhead's major corridors. This study also addresses measures to improve the corridor as developed by the Governor's Congestion Mitigation Task Force.

Peachtree-Roswell Road Study
The Buckhead Community Improvement District is working with stakeholders and the public to develop a long-term vision for roadway and public space elements within the Buckhead Village area. The five-month planning study is expected to produce a concept for a future roadway alignment that not only promotes walkability and bikeability at the Peachtree Road / Roswell Road intersection and in adjacent areas, but also promotes redevelopment of the area.
SPI-9 Zoning
Buckhead CID partnered with the City of Atlanta, sister organization BATMA, and local resident neighbors through Neighborhood Planning Unit B to develop a new zoning ordinance (SPI-9) that covers a significant part of the Buckhead commercial area generally west of Piedmont Ave. and north of Pharr Rd.
The zoning, adopted by Atlanta City Council on October 4, 2010, sets the stage for a more walkable, urban community enriched with public art and parks, wide sidewalks, greenspace, transportation options, and outdoor dining, all designed to have international appeal. The new district enhances existing regulations by clearly defining street treatments, facades, sidewalk widths, signage, greenspace, and other public elements to create a cohesive feel to the community and help developers position their developments with consideration of public spaces.

SPI-12
Special Public Interest District 12 covers the commercial core of the Buckhead community surrounding the two malls and the major high rise office developments. This zoning overlay district was one of the first ever written in the City and one of the last to be incorporated into the underlying zoning. The Buckhead CID is currently seeking funding through the Atlanta Regional Commission to update this district to achieve a series of goals.
