The objective of the Buckhead Community Improvement District (CID), working with the City of Atlanta and its community partners, is to meet the challenges resulting from Buckhead's rapid, primarily automobile-based growth.

These challenges include:

improving traffic mobility
enhancing the pedestrian environment
creating better access to public transit
initiating intra-district transportation alternatives
encouraging better integration of land uses
improving linkages to the region's automobile, transit and bicycle networks

Jim Durrett is Executive Director of the Buckhead CID. He serves on the steering committees of the Atlanta region’s Mixed Income Communities Initiative and the ULI Atlanta Terwilliger Center for Workforce Housing. He is a member of the MARTA Board of Directors, DeKalb County. Previously, Durrett was Executive Director of the Livable Communities Coalition, a not-for-profit organization formed in 2005 to promote smart growth development in the Atlanta region.
